JACKSONVILLE PEDIATRIC CARE
Dr. Benitez started his career as a pediatric emergency room physician. It was there that he realized when parents bring their children to the ER in the middle of the night it wasn’t necessarily because it was an emergency, it was because their doctor’s office was closed. It was then that he had the idea for a pediatric practice open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Anyone who has children knows they get sick at night and on weekends and usually on holiday, weekend nights!
He tried to convince his partners at the time to adopt the concept but no one thought it would work. They told him he would never be able to financially sustain the overhead cost of a 24-hour-a-day, seven-day-a-week office.
Of course, like most people with an unorthodox vision, Dr. Benitez proved the naysayers wrong. Today, Pediatric Care Center has three offices. The original office opened in Jacksonville Beach in 2005. The second office located on RG Skinner Pkwy. in the Baymeadows area of Jacksonville opened in 2009 and a Fleming Island office opened in January of 2016.
Many parents of our patients chose Pediatric Care Center due to the peace of mind they have that the center will be open all the time.
- Our Jacksonville Pediatric Care Centers are open 24 hours, 365 days a year.
- We do not have an answering service or prompt system! A human ALWAYS answers our phones.
- We offer same day appointments and your sick child can be seen by a provider from 8am till midnight.
- From midnight to 8am we are staffed by an experienced Pediatric Registered Nurse that can answer your questions through the night or keep a sicker child in the office for things such as IV fluids, breathing treatments for asthma or even observation, keeping 90% of our patients out of the emergency room.
- When your child is sick in the middle of the night instead of taking them to the emergency room you can come to your own doctor’s office and be treated.
- We have three locations that are connected by an electronic medical record system so you can go to any of our locations and your records are accessible.
- We have been certified as a Patient Centered Medical Home by the National Council of Quality Assurance. What this means for you is that we have followed strict guidelines to assure your health is managed and coordinated to assure your care is efficient and effective.
