As adults, most people visit the doctor only when they are not feeling well. However, for children who are in the process of growing and developing, visiting a doctor should not be reserved only for times of sickness.
Well- child visits are integral to your child’s overall care. Seeing the doctor or nurse practitioner for a regular check- up is important for monitoring your child’s health and development. To keep healthy children from being exposed to illnesses, at Pediatric Care Centers each of our offices is equipped with separate waiting areas for children who are sick and those who are well.

Regularly Scheduled Check-ups for Children
For parents of new babies, keeping to the recommended schedule of doctor’s visits is important to ensure the baby stays healthy and develops at a healthy rate. Some of the most important times to visit for a check-up on developmental milestones include:
- Within 2-3 days of birth
- 2 weeks after the child is born
- 1 month old
- 2 months old
- 4 months old
- 6 months old
- 9 months old
- One year old
- 15 months old
- 18 months old
- 2 years old
- Annually after age 2
After reaching two years old, most children are seen for check-ups once a year. Many parents choose to do this before the school year begins, because local schools require documentation showing the child is vaccinated before he or she can attend classes. We can also provide documentation for sports programs and summer or winter camps, if needed.
Routine Screenings
Children's Behavioral, Hearing, and Vision Questions
When your child comes in for a regular visit, we will also screen for hearing or vision-related issues. This is also a time where you can ask questions about your child’s diet, sleeping patterns or behavioral issues. Our doctors and nurse practitioner’s draw on years of experience and training to suggest solutions that work for your family and are in line with your parenting philosophy.
